Independent Learning and Development Consultant and Coach
Q, Please provide a brief career history.
A self-employed leadership coach following on from a successful career as a manager, a trainer, and a leadership development consultant, in a blue chip financial services company.
Q, Have you coached before?
Yes – Leadership Development.
Q, Have you attended any coach training previous to the HumanTechnics programme?
Yes – in-house training and accreditation programmes with employer, e.g., GROW and The Step-Change Model.
Q, What were your motivations behind looking for a Coach Training programme?
Having a formal qualification to satisfy client requirements.
Q, What criteria were important to you when looking for a Coach training programme?
Development of practical skills with an NLP slant. Credentials of trainer.
Q, What was it that led you to choose the HumanTechnics programme in the end?
The programme content and format seemed to meet my requirements and I liked the people I spoke with about it.
Q, Could you briefly describe your experience of the course.
I experienced development of my skills as a coach using new techniques. My confidence improved as a result of being given sufficient opportunity to practise with other delegates and from being given support and feedback from them and from the course tutor. As a result of attending the course, I also was able to clarify my own direction and be more confident about setting up my own business as a coach.
Q, If you’ve attended other Coaching training programmes – how does the HumanTechnics course differ?
I liked the small group as it provided loads of opportunities to practise with different personalities, discuss things, share ideas, and give and receive feedback. The tutor provided lots of personal stories to bring the material alive and I particularly liked her warm, humorous, flexible and professional style. The course appeared not to be ‘off the shelf’, rather it gave us what we asked for/needed – I welcome that kind of flexibility.
Q, Reflecting on the programme what would you say you got from it?
I got the confidence and self-belief to launch myself into the world of the self-employed coach, complete with qualification and practical experience.
Q, would you recommend the course to someone like yourself?
